The artist
Laura Andrew is a British wildlife artist, and a Member of the Society of Wildlife Artists.
Laura has painted professionally since before she left university in London, where she studied for a degree in scientific illustration.
She now works from the field and in her studio in Scotland.
Inspired by flora and fauna of the natural world, Laura’s art is expressive and informative.
She paints using watercolour, and larger scale, in oil on linen.
Brushstrokes are applied with an enchanting combination of both consideration and spontaneity, and perfectly capture the subject’s movement and very essence.
Laura enjoys observing and photographing wildlife before sketching and painting what she has seen, both in oil and watercolours.
Laura’s inspiring paintings are very popular with private collectors, interior designers and nature lovers.
Her work sells worldwide, and Laura exhibits regularly including with the Society of Wildlife Artists at their annual exhibition in the Mall Galleries, London.
A grouse in full flight observed in flight one winter on the North Yorkshire moors.
I drove up a track onto a North Yorkshire moorland in my Land Rover, with permission of the landowner and gamekeeper of course, to sketch and photograph grouse on the moors.
This print is from one of a series of paintings I did from my observations that week.
