Barn Owl, Night Owl.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have seen, and heard, barn owls many times. There are several pairs who can be seen along the River Witham, out hunting for a meal.
The owl in this painting has perhaps only just woken up, and is staring out at the world wondering what the night has in store. It’s always a pleasure to paint these magnificent and unusual birds, and they are a subject that I constantly revisit.
