Harvest Brown Hare SOLD
The Harvest Brown Hare. My paintings of hares are usually inspired by the many sightings I’m lucky enough to have of them in rural Lincolnshire.
The hare fascinates me, and I’ve been painting them for just about my entire career as an artist. It’s always a joy to see them out boxing in March, or to find them sat peacefully nibbling on some poor farmer’s crops, or to witness them run at staggering speed across the open fields.
I’ve tried to capture the very essence of the hare, to represent it simply and yet accurately. All while also conveying the action and atmosphere of the sighting.
I hope you like this oil on linen painting, which resulted from a particular hare and artist encounter that took place last winter on a freshly harvested field in Lincolnshire.
