Kingfisher in Willow

Inspired by my frequent visits to our river and canals where the kingfisher can sometimes be seen. In this painting the kingfisher can be seen sat on a perch among the willow trees on the riverbank, probably scanning the water below for its next meal. This delightful bird is a joy to paint, although those incredible colours are very hard to mix and apply so painting a kingfisher is always a challenge.
