Tawny Owl, Sleepyhead, depicts a tawny owl taking a well-earned rest in a tree. The tree offers the perfect camouflage for the owl, with the bark matching the tawny’s feather pattern so well.
I had this painting in my head for a while before I finally managed to get it onto canvas. It’s always tough when you do that, because it’s easy to feel under pressure to produce the exact picture your mind has been seeing so clearly.
Things went well in the studio and I had a good time painting this. I’m very happy with how it turned out, what do you think?
